THE Lymm and District Round Table has profited from the generosity of the local community this year and raised a record amount for charity as a result.
Over £13,000 was raised from the Round Table’s main 2011/12 events – the Lymm Duck Race, Big Lymm Bonfire and the new and well-attended Lymm Beer Festival. New chairman Rik Wilson said: “We are constantly amazed by the number of people who come to our events, in all kinds of weather, and without their support we simply wouldn’t be able to donate so much money to worthy causes.
“Local businesses have been particularly generous this year too and my thanks also go out to our members who have put in a great deal of hard work to plan and run the events. Our first beer festival was a huge success and we’re really looking forward to doing it all again this September – watch this space for full details!”
The local causes to have benefited from the Round Table’s donations include Oughtrington Pre-School, NW Air Ambulance Service, Children’s Adventure Farm, Warrington Peace Centre, along with national beneficiaries such as Child Reach International, MacMillan Cancer Support and Pain Relief Foundation.
