Lymm and District Round Table is celebrating another successful year after donating almost £8,000 to local causes.
The impressive total was raised from the proceeds of the Round Table’s four main events throughout 2009/10 – the Easter Monday Duck Race, Bonfire Night, Dickensian Day and Burns Night.
New chairman Dave Openshaw said: “It’s been another great year for the Lymm and District Round Table with a sharp increase in membership – in stark contrast to the national trend – and pleasing attendances at our events. The main purpose of the Round Table, however, is to help out charities and community groups in need, so it’s particularly satisfying that we’ve been able to raise such a large amount.”
Local causes to have benefited from the Round Table’s donations include Cotebrook House, Warrington Speak Up, Camsley Grange Riding for the Disabled, Warrington Mencap and the Steps Charity. Additionally, £1,000 was donated to both Lymm Youth and Community Centre and Lymm Rugby Club’s disabled access schemes.
Lymm and District Round Table is one of the most buoyant in the country with a large and enthusiastic membership and regular social and charity events planned throughout the year.
